Epoxy zinc-rich primer powder coating is a type of specialty coating that primarily consists of epoxy resin and zinc powder, along with thickeners, fillers, additives, and solvents. This coating offers excellent corrosion resistance, making it particularly suitable for the protection of metal surfaces such as steel pipes, storage tanks, steel structures, and shipping containers. The characteristics of epoxy zinc-rich primer include:

  • High Zinc Content: High zinc content provides cathodic protection, effectively preventing corrosion of the metal substrate.

  • Rapid Drying: It dries quickly and has strong adhesion, forming a protective film rapidly.

  • Saltwater Resistance: It has good resistance to saltwater, reducing the likelihood of rust.

  • Water Resistance: It has excellent water resistance, suitable for harsh corrosive environments.

  • Versatile Application Methods: It can be applied using various methods such as spraying, brushing, and rolling.

  • Temperature Resistance: It can be used within a certain temperature range, but note that the substrate temperature should not be lower than 5°C to avoid affecting the curing of the film.

When using epoxy zinc-rich primer powder coating, consider the following:

  • Surface Preparation: The metal surface must be free of rust, oil, and other impurities before painting, typically meeting a certain derusting standard such as Sa2.5.

  • Application Temperature: The application temperature should be between 5°C and 40°C, with the substrate temperature being at least 3°C above the dew point.

  • Coating Interval: The interval between coatings varies depending on the substrate temperature, with a minimum of 4 hours and a maximum of 7 days.

  • Storage and Transportation: Store the product in a cool, ventilated area away from direct sunlight and heat sources. During transportation, avoid rain and direct sunlight exposure, and prevent collisions.

Due to its excellent corrosion resistance and ease of application, epoxy zinc-rich primer powder coating is widely used in industrial corrosion protection fields. Strict adherence to product instructions and relevant standards is necessary when selecting and using this product to ensure the performance and safety of the coating.
