Polyamide resin, commonly known as nylon, is a widely used thermoplastic resin. Polyamide resin has good comprehensive properties, high hardness, especially outstanding wear resistance. Its coating film has small static friction coefficient and dynamic friction coefficient, has lubrication ability, and has low operating noise during operation. It is an ideal wear-resistant and non-toxic material. Lubricating coating, with good flexibility and excellent adhesion, chemical resistance, and solvent resistance, used for coating textile machinery bearings, gears, valves, chemical containers, steam containers, etc.

The fluidized bed coating method is the most commonly used application technology for nylon powder coatings. Using this method, a thick coating with a thickness of 200μm-700μm can be obtained using a one-step coating process. The thickness depends on the transmission speed of the conveyor belt hanging the workpiece and the coating amount of the coated workpiece. The melting temperature of nylon-11 powder is between 200℃-230℃, and 220℃ is generally recommended. Whether using positive or negative charges, electrostatic spraying can be successfully applied to thin coatings. Ordinary spraying equipment used in other powder coatings is also suitable for nylon powder coatings. The operating voltage is between 30kV and 70kV. The thickness of the coating obtained by electrostatic spraying is usually between 100μm and 150μm.

One advantage of nylon powder coating applications is its high line speed. Additionally, immediate immersion in water or spraying with cold water to cool down will not damage the paint surface. "Quenching" in water will result in a high-gloss surface, while slow cooling in air will result in a matte surface.

In the case of coating flat products and the thickness of the coating film is both uniform and thin, an infrared oven can be used. However, when thick coatings of nylon are required on three-dimensional objects, the polymer's high thermal insulation coefficient and narrow melting point are two major factors that hinder the successful use of infrared ovens. In this case, it is best to use a traditional tunnel or box air convection furnace.

Due to their special properties, nylon powder coatings have opened up a wide range of applications. Their salt water resistance and inertness towards fungi, bacteria and crustaceans make them ideal for coating household items that will be immersed in or come into contact with sea water.

Nylon powder coatings are non-toxic, odorless and tasteless, combined with the fact that they are not attacked by fungi and do not promote bacterial growth, making them successfully used in the food processing industry to coat machine parts and piping systems, or to coat food products Surfaces capable of direct contact. The use of powder coatings based on nylon-11 for drinking water and food industries has been approved in all industrialized countries.

The low coefficient of friction, excellent wear resistance and weak dust absorption make them suitable for coating wheels, motorcycle frames, construction supplies, luggage, trolleys, metal furniture, safety equipment, sports equipment and agricultural machinery, etc. . Valve handles and seats, residential pumps, washing baskets and trays, household washing machine pumps and large diameter pipes can all be coated with nylon powder coatings. Their advantages are excellent resistance to solvents, weak alkali and Detergent resistant.

An important area of application for nylon powder coatings is the coating of various types of handles, since nylon powder coatings are intended to be used not only because of their important characteristics such as wear and scratch resistance, but also because of their low thermal conductivity The soft feel of the handles also makes these materials ideal for painting tool handles, door handles and steering wheels.

In addition, polyamide powder coatings and their coating films are non-toxic and odorless, comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards, and are suitable for manufacturing containers that are in direct contact with food, such as equipment and utensils of food processing companies. Because of its good water resistance and salt water resistance, it is also commonly used in the coating of washing machine parts. The good weather resistance of polyamide can also be used to make outdoor powder coatings, which can be used for coating small outdoor fixtures and furniture.
